I assist clients who are looking for relief from depression, anxiety, ADHD, and past trauma. I’m here to listen with empathy, to help you learn how to better cope, and to ultimately make positive changes in your life.

My passion is helping you practice self-compassion and self-acceptance, as well as develop your assertiveness so you can be true to yourself and improve your connection with others. I will guide you on how to be present with uncomfortable emotions and how to roll with anxieties while bravely taking steps to make your intentions and dreams a reality. I strive to be present in the moment, tapping into the joy of everyday living, while encouraging you to also find this place of contentment.

My Approach

I use an eclectic approach, implementing ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Strengths Perspective, Multicultural-Feminist Therapy, Narrative Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems) and elements of Buddhist philosophy. I also specialize in assisting gender diverse clients (non-binary and transgender) and am LGBTQIA friendly.

My style is compassionate and supportive, but I will also help you see your rationalizations. I enjoy teaching new skills and introducing techniques that you can utilize well after therapy concludes. I will accompany you through the process of healing and change. I will create a safe refuge for your empowerment.

Accepting adults (18+). Licensed to see clients via Telehealth from Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and Missouri.

“I started working with Camilla Hendren during a time of personal transition, unhappiness, and uncertainty. Talking with her helped me gain clarity about my values and, by making me feel more accountable, helped me to achieve some of my goals. Camilla also helped me notice patterns in my thinking, relationships, and communication that I could change.

I worked with Camilla for several years and looked forward to every session; it was clear that she cared about me as a whole being. In reflecting back on our sessions, I am impressed by her uncanny sense of timing. She always was a supportive listener and allowed me to ramble and vent, but also knew precisely when to ask me to slow down to consider solutions, or more specific approaches or changes. She had the ability to perceive when I might be receptive to useful and applicable psychological concepts and provided them at those opportune moments. My work with Camilla was an invaluable experience in my personal growth.”

“When I started my therapy journey three years ago with Camilla, I had just completed residential treatment for a substance use disorder. I was navigating early addiction recovery, suffering from high levels of anxiety and depression, and going through a divorce. I was at a true low point in my life, and I immediately felt comforted by Camilla's warm and welcoming presence during our very first session.

She consistently showed empathy and compassion, while also lovingly challenging me to push forward when things felt too tough or uncomfortable. She is extremely knowledgeable about addiction and the recovery process and she helped me to develop essential coping skills to deal with social and generalized anxiety symptoms. She was truly a godsend, and I will be forever grateful for her guidance and support as I learned to feel my feelings and walk through life on life's terms.”
